IX Language and Technology Workshop L@ngtech

The Language Center at the Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas, in Havana, Cuba, calls for the IX Language and Technology Workshop (L@ngtech 2021), to be held as part of the IV International Scientific Conference UCIENCIA 2021, to be held at the Hotel Nacional, Havana, Cuba, from October 5 through 7.
Due to its well-established reliability, transparency, flexibility, focus on action, and universal and adaptive character, the Common European Framework of Reference has become the main international reference for the language training process in Cuban higher education. This leads to a work of adaptation and contextualization of its descriptors to local needs in terms of curriculum development and certification of final objectives. This process has also taken place in other parts of the world and, more specifically, in institutions and educational systems in Latin America.
The Workshop has the aim of bringing together professionals – practitioners, teachers, policy makers and researchers – in order to discuss issues related to the glocalization of the CEFR in language education and testing in the Latin American context. Participants will have the opportunity to network with other professionals in this sector and share ideas, knowledge and expertise.
Central theme: The use of the CEFR in teaching and assessment in Latin America.
  • The CEFR and curriculum development
  • The CEFR and constructive alignment of learning, teaching and assessment
  • CEFR and classroom based assessment
  • CEFR and proficiency certification
  • Rubrics for assessing productive/interactive skills, taking the CEFR as basis
  • Technology and language education
